Exploring Australia

Welcome to

Glendambo

The small settlement of Glendambo, on the Stuart Highway, is 254 kilometres from Coober Pedy and 592 kilometres from Adelaide. The distance between Glendambo and Coober Pedy is the furtherest stretch between townships on the highway – 254 kms.

Glendambo.was established in 1982 after the Highway was realigned. The town of Kingoonya was bypassed and so the Kingoonya businesses relocated to Glendambo.

Water was the first requirement. A test bore revealed that Glendambo lies on a natural aquifer. The population is around 30 with about 30,000 sheep.
