JULMURARK CAMPGROUND (12 Mile Yards)

 

The Julmurark Campground in the Elsey National Park offers camping in a picturesque setting. There are open fireplaces with wood supplied, a Camp kitchen and a Gas BBQ in the day area. Kangaroos and wallabies come to visit.

Grassed area, ideal for picnics. The amenities are solar powered with hot showers and flushing toilets. with a fence around to keep out the kangaroos.

& Family (2 adults + 4 children) $15.40

A boat ramp gives access to the Roper River at 4 Mile and 12 Mile and canoes can be hired.

There are a number of bush walks with interpretative signage so you can be aware of local birds, animals and plants as well as sites of historical or cultural significance.

The old cattle yards at 12 Mile were built to catch the wild cattle as the bushland was too dense for a man to ride through. There’s the Old Sheep Dip, and the World War II Aboriginal Army Camp.

Mataranka Falls
Take a pleasant 4 km walk along the Roper River and through the bush from the camp grounds. The tranquility of the river turns to the roar of the water pouring over the tufa dams. You can enjoy your own spa pool.
