CEDUNA OLD SCHOOLHOUSE NT MUSEUM

The Museum covers a large area and has comprehensive displays on the early days in the area.

The main building  built in 1912, was the towns’s first school. It is surrounded by other buildings, a schoolroom, church, cottage, blacksmith shop and huge machinery shed.

The cottage is furnished in the style of the early part of last century.

The schoolroom, typical of schooldays in the 1920s was once used by a young teacher Edith Lee in 1918 - she subsequently married and gave birth to Bob Hawke, previous prime minister.

Displays include equipment used  at Maralinga when atomic testing was carried out during the 1950s.

There are horse drawn vehicles, and a comprehensive farm machinery collection.

There is a collection of model boats and marine artifacts.

Other items of interest include early photographs of the area, household items of bygone days and local Aboriginal artifacts.

Open Wed, Thurs,  2-4pm
