CONSTANTIA
“A thing of beauty is a joy forever”
Constantia has an international reputation for fine furniture and furniture design and is one of the world’s few artisans accredited to the Guild of Master Craftsmen. The firm was appointed above all others to design and build the Central Table to the House of Representatives in Australia's Parliament House in Canberra.
Almost forty years since Constantia’s first days in Port Lincoln, their young artisans are handcrafting magnificent artwork and furniture pieces. The fast-paced world's, modern machinery and mass production is not for them.
TOURS
Constantia provides a rare opportunity to see woodcraft of a quality that most thought lost to the modern day world. Each piece, lovingly created, reflects the skill and tradition of past masters. Twice daily tours showcase their work and include a fascinating look at different timbers’ textures and qualities.
When founder Bernie Koker’s only inheritance from his father was a modest but immaculately kept box of hand woodworking tools, Bernie thought an element of luck was involved. The burning passion to continue an unspoken tradition and love of things beautifully made was part of that legacy.
WOOD FINISHES
Constantia believes furniture should be made to last centuries, so wood finishes as well as enhancing the naturalness of wood, must protect it and be long lasting. After years of research and experimentation, Constantia has developed nature based products to do just that. Using only finest ingredients, these organic finishes bring out depth, clarity and lustre of the wood. Products are non-toxic, safe and easy to use and very moderately priced from $10. As well as professional use, they are ideal to enhance and protect furniture in the home.
