PYNDAN CAMEL TRACKS

A True Central Australian Experience

Join host Marcus Williams for a one hour camel ride from Pyndan Camel Tracks yards past Iron Bark and Mulga trees, across a clay pan to sweeping views across the MacDonnell Ranges.

Enjoy the quiet bush and the sounds of the birds. Almost daily we see kangaroos and wallabies, birds including budgies and birds of prey, and lizards. People say how calm and relaxing it is out on the ride.

Marcus loves to share his knowledge (he has Eco Nature Tourism Certification) and enjoys giving visitors the chance to explore and learn about the camels history here.

Before the trainline was completed to Alice Springs from Oodnadatta in 1929, all supplies arrived with the Afghan Cameleers, leading camel trains of 70 or so camels. Their huge loads included water pipes, timber and iron as well as food and clothing.

Marcus has years of experience and caught his original herd in the Simpson Desert. The Camels have unique personalities.

Back at base there's a Camel Museum / lounge with coffee, tea and spring water.
