DARWIN MILITARY MUSEUM
Darwin Military Museum is set on an original defence site at East Point. More than 64 air raids were endured with hundreds of people killed in attacks on the Territory in 1942-43.
The Defence of Darwin Experience is a multi-media experience, bringing to life the day Darwin was first attacked, the day war came to Australia. You hear the air raid siren and adjourn into the theatrette and become immersed in the action, noise and fires while Darwin burned. You hear people who were there share the stunned reality of the moment. “Excellent” and “Amazing” visitors say, “We were not taught anything about this at school”.
Much memorabilia and first hand stories from soldiers who served here is on display, as well as graphic photography of the battles.
There's a collection of firearms from past to present, Aviation, Navy and Army exhibits, Japanese exhibits and more.
A number of Artillery and Armoured Vehicles are on display throughout the gardens.
