Exploring Australia

AQUASCENE

Aquascene is a unique wildlife experience interacting with wild fish right in the centre of Darwin. At high tide hundreds of fish swim into the shallows looking for a free feed - and they certainly get it at Aquascene!

Visitors can stand in the shallow water hand feeding wild fish with bread supplied. The fish mill about your feet – an opportunity to view sea life in a very interactive way.

Or you can feed the fish from the viewing arena without getting your feet wet.

There are many different species and a wonderful experience for all who love nature. Staff are happy to pass on information about the habits of the different fish species.

Opening times change daily and vary with high tides.  Aquascene is open every day that tidal movement and weather is suitable. The area is a sanctuary and fishing is not allowed.

The fish feeding ritual began in the 1950s when the owner of the property began feeding a few fish that came in with the tide. Word soon got around among the fish population and more and more fish of all varieties made it part of their daily ritual. Now hundreds of fish visit daily.

Souvenirs are available of this unique experience.
