Hub of The Flinders
Spectacular scenery with rugged ranges and gullies, picturesque gum lined creeks and prolific birdlife make the Flinders Ranges one of South Australia’s most outstanding attractions.
Famous artist Sir Hans Heysen found inspiration here and it’s a photographer’s paradise. There are numerous walking tracks, lookout points and bush walking trails – with leaflets available at local Visitor Centres.
Self drive trails include Moralana Scenic Drive (stunning scenery), Arkaba rock and Youambulla Caves (Aboriginal art) and picturesque Willow Waters.
Hawker is the hub of the Flinders, being the junction of roads from Port Augusta, Ororoo, Leigh Creek/Maree and Wilpena/Blinman.
Substantial heritage buildings are evidence of the once a thriving railway town before the line was relocated west in 1956. It’s a great place to base your holiday.
