Bremer Bay township, at the mouth of the Bremer River on the Wellstead Estuary, is on the western side of Fitzgerald River National Park. The bay is a wide expanse of crystal clear blue water and striking white sand. The main beach, 10 minutes walk from town has a sheltered cove, ideal for swimming. There is excellent fishing from the rocks or beach with a natural boat launching area at Fishery Beach.
Southern Right Whales calve in the calm waters of the bays and can be seen from vantage points along the coastline, at times as close as six metres from shore- a likely spot is from the viewing platform at Point Ann in Fitzgerald National Park. Gas BBQs are provided.
At Wellstead, turn south and visit one of Western Australias most scenic and historic locations- Cape Riche. An excellent camp ground is provided (no power). Permits are available from Wellstead Store.
