Fowlers Bay was named by Matthew Flinders in honour of his first lieutenant. The picturesque town is a favourite fishing spot and was one of the earliest settlements. Old stone buildings remain. Explorer Edward John Eyre’s party left from Fowlers Bay on their 1500 kms journey to Albany on February 25th, 1841.
Nearby Nundroo, on the Eyre Highway is a good stopover point and hosts the Nundroo Mullaway Fishing Championships from October to January
