West Beach was once known as “The Reedbeds” and the white sands and calm clear water make it a popular beach in summer for swimming and water sports.
West Beach is situated in between Glenelg beach (south) and Henley Beach (north). West Beach is just 15 minutes from Adelaide's City Centre and a short trip to Adelaide's International Airport. Henley Beach offers a large choice of beachside dining and cafes.
There is a shopping centre on Burbridge Road at West Beach with a range of shops and businesses. Sports grounds/recreational facilities are to be found on Military Road/West Beach Road and a Golf Course/Driving Range a little further towards Glenelg.
Adelaide Shores Skate & BMX Park is located on Africaine Road, between Tapleys Hill Road and Military Road, at West Beach.
This free, public venue is popular for skate-boarding, in-line skating and BMX riding, and provides:

Street circuit
Dirt BMX track
Large vertical ramp
BBQs and sheltered eating areas.
The area is floodlit at night.
Nearby West Lakes was developed into an attractive lakeside suburb by reclaiming the marshes.
