Woodside in the Adelaide Hills is a small town on the Onkaparinga Highway between Oakbank and Charleston, 37km from Adelaide. In the main street there are a number of fine antique and collectable shops, galleries and craft shops, cafe/restaurants, bakery, two hotels and other businesses. Amenities in the town include a swimming pool and library. Woodside is home to the Woodside Barracks.
Woodside was named after a village in Scotland. The land was purchased by James Johnston who saw an opportunity of increasing his Oakbank landholdings. The village of Woodside was surveyed in 1856 and its beginnings saw an inn and 3 mounted police were station there. The settlers were a mix of English, Scottish and German.

Woodside Barracks, just out of town is home to the 16th Air Defence Regiment.
Visitors to the Adelaide Hills can go on to Birdwood and the Barossa Valley. There is a choice of routes either via the Torrens Valley Scenic Route through Lobethal and Gumeracha or via the shorter route via Charleston and Mount Torrens.
