OneSteel’s fully integrated steelworks opened in 1964 (previously BHP). Tours of OneSteel are the only regular public tours of their type in Australia and give a good insight into converting rough ore to the finished product.

Whyalla's Middleback Theatre is a multi-purpose arts centre that features touring exhibitions, performing arts and film screenings.
Visitors are invited to inspect displays in foyer and check out current shows and films (also on website).  Member of Country Arts SA

The museum is centred around the Mount Laura Homestead built in 1922 on the then sheep station. Exhibits showcasing the history of Whyalla include Gay Street Cottage, Whyalla’s first police lockup, Barber Horse Drawn Vehicle Shed, Blacksmith Shop, Telecommunications Museum, Steam Train and Ore Truck.
Open 10-noon weekdays and 2-4 Sundays. Small entrance fee.
