FISHING IN PORT NEILL

Port Neill is renowned for its excellent fishing. The bay is heltered and often boaties can go fishing here when it is too rough in other places. The artificial reef is a haven for fish and Yellowfin whiting and other fish can be caught off the beaches. The coastline south of the town has small salmon, sand crabs and trevally.

ODDS & ENDS

It is generally accepted that the biggest flathead are females and that they produce the most eggs.
Why then does the South Australian Piscatorial Council run a biggest flathead competition where any recreational angler is eligible to enter as many flathead as they like but only the biggest will be considered?
